Washing in a Winter Wonderland

Winter is here and if you are dealing with dry itchy skin and dry brittle hair, you aren’t alone! Here are a few hot tips for keeping your skin and hair luxuriously soft in the winter time!

Stay hydrated! Hydration starts from the inside out! Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

Adjust your routine! In the winter you may have to add more moisturizing products into your routine like shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, or a leave in mask!

Use a heat protectant! Heat protectant adds a barrier in between your styling tool and your hair sealing in moisture and preventing frizz. We love the Thermal Iron Spray by Redken.

 

Moisturize after washing! Immediately when you get out of the shower use your favorite lotion or body butter! Opt for something with a thicker consistency if you’re applying right before bed!

Use an oil or overnight treatment. These products will help hydrate your hair. The Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night treatment will leave your hair feeling moisturized without being oily or having to wash it the next morning! Combine with one pump of the Elixir Ultime oil for the perfect combination!

Cleaned my car. It was bad.

Hair color!! Especially Vivid Colors

Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn

Yes.

When I grew up I wanted to work at a front desk. Didn’t know where yet.

I’m proud of graduating the associates program and leveling up.

My favorite service is Highlights and a layered cut!

What’s your favorite snack?
My favorite snack currently are Almonds. I can’t get enough.

Are you into garden gnomes?
I’m not really into garden gnomes but I like the garden bears instead.

CARLY

Just a few days into kicking off Virgo season makes this spicy little number, Carly stand out! Carly graduated from our in house education program @platinumandcompany a few months ago and is crushing it! Plus, it’s almost her birthday & who doesn’t like to kick off the celebration a couple weeks early?!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little I wanted to be a mermaid when I grew up

What have you achieved in the last 6 months that you’re proud of? In the last 6 months I have achieved a level of independence that I never thought I would have ever gotten to. I have graduated cosmetology school and moved out of my moms house and I have navigated all of that by myself and I am very proud of myself for doing that!

What is your favorite service to provide? My favorite service to provide is a blowout or a mens cut

What’s your favorite snack? My favorite snack is either a spear dill pickle or cheese it’s

Why are pizza boxes square? Pizza boxes are square so when you put them in the car they slide around less and they stack better if they are square

All skin has a “Natural Moisturizing Factor” – a balance of water and oil that helps keep natural moisture intact. Dry skin lacks the oil necessary to ensure this balance,leading to a thin texture and a tendency for premature age signs like wrinkles.

Your skin is Combination if:

  • Your t-zone gets moderately oily a few hours after cleansing
  • Your skin feels dehydrated at times
  • You have visible pores in the t-zone
  • You experience some clogged pores (blackheads)
  • Occasional breakouts are somewhat common

Did You Know?

Combination skin is truly a blend of both dry and oily skin – the t-zone experiences oil while the cheeks and outer perimeter of the face experience dryness. A balance is needed to treat both areas effectively, without causing the dry areas to become drier or the oily t-zone to become oilier.

  • Your skin gets oily within a few hours after cleansing

You have acne prone skin if:

  • Your pores are clogged (blackheads and whiteheads)
  • Multiple breakouts are common
  • You have visible inflammation and redness

Did You Know?

Acne occurs when hormones prompt your oil glands to produce excess oil and a rapid shedding of skin cells in your pores. The pore becomes clogged by trapped oil and dead skin cells, creating a perfect breeding ground for irritating acne bacteria. As your skin tries to deal with the bacteria, it becomes inflamed, causing a full-blown breakout.

Your skin is Sensitive if:

  • Ordinary skin care products cause stinging, itching or a burning sensation
  • You easily flush
  • Your skin appears flaky and dry
  • You experience random red blotches on the neck and/or face

Did You Know?

People with Sensitive skin usually have fair complexions that flush easily or swell a bit to the touch. They may even get red and blotchy on the face or neck for no apparent reason. This is a true skin type – it’s the skin they were born with.
